SP2 für XP und automatische Updates

Bisher war es so, dass das SP2 für XP nicht über die automatischen UUpdatemechanismen (Windows Update) ausgeliefert wurde.

 

Das wird ab dem kommenden Patchday nicht mehr so sein.

 

Diese Information habe ich soeben bekommen:

 

The intent of this alert is to provide you with a final reminder about the upcoming deadline around the date on which Automatic Updates (AU) and Windows Update (WU) will deliver Windows XP SP2 regardless of the presence of the blocking mechanism.

 

Beginning 12 April 2005 this temporarily blocking mechanism will expire and systems with Automatic Update enabled or interactively download SP2 via Windows Update will begin receiving SP2. Note that this is also the scheduled day for the monthly cumulative release of security updates.

 

This deadline is now less than one week away.

 

We strongly encourage customers to take the appropriate steps to implement SP2 deployment decisions by that time.

Das stimmt so nicht ganz.

SP2 wird angeboten, besucht man den WindowsUpdate und hat ein nicht präpariertes SP1 System.

 

Bisher kann man wählen, Benutzerdefiniert oder eben automatisch.

Das fällt weg und der von Microsoft bereitgestellte Blocker wird ignoriert, ist dann abgelaufen.

Es ging ja auch um die automatischen Updates, nicht um die die du selbst installieren musst.
