The SUSE® LINUX Enterprise Server 8 for x86 Images Downloads option lets you download copies of the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8 CDs. You will receive a registration code that will grant you access to bug fixes and additional features.
Download each .iso file to a directory and burn individual CDs from each .iso image.
NOTE: Do not burn the .iso file to CD. Burn the contents of the .iso file (the .iso image) to CD.
SLES8_x86_united_cd1, 2 and 3 are the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server CDs that contain both the SUSE LINUX personality and the UnitedLinux personality.
SLES8_x86_install_cd1 is the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server Boot CD that you must use in order to install a Linux Server with the SUSE personality.

Deine 8 CDs enthalten beides - United Linux und den Enterprise Server. Es werden auch beide installiert. United Linux ist (besser: war) die Initiative einiger Unternehmen, eine einheitliche Basis für Linux-Enterprise-Produkte zu schaffen. Einige Infos gibt es hier.
Das Projekt ist inzwischen eingeschlafen und findet bei der aktuellen SLES 9-Version wohl auch keine Anwendung mehr. Das beeinträchtigt aber keineswegs die Einsatzfähigkeit des SLES 8.
Die Benennung der einzelnen CDs ist in der Tat etwas verwirrend. Der Grund: United Linux ist das Basis-System und der Enterprise Server beinhaltet die jeweiligen Software-Pakete. Es gibt z. B. auch noch den Standard Server 8, dort findest du die gleiche Aufteilung.
SUSE gehört inzwischen zu Novell, darum befindet sich dort auch das Supportforum (engl.) für den Enterprise Server. Als gutes deutschsprachiges Forum kann ich z. B. das SUSE-Forum von "linux-web.de" empfehlen.
Laut deiner Liste aus diesem Posting (United Linux for Suse Linux Enterprise Server 8) wird von der SLES8_x86_install_cd1 gebootet, die HD eingerichtet und danach die CD SLES8_x86_united_cd1 angefordert, um das Basis-System zu installieren.
Wenn du dir bei den CDs nicht sicher bist, einfach der Reihe nach durchprobieren. Das Setup sagt dir, wenn es die falsche CD ist.

Bei Novell kann ich 4 + 2 SP Cd´s downloaden.
Nur verstehe ich die Anleitung von der Webseite nicht ganz.
Die Install CD zuerst und dann United Linux 1 usw.......
Weißt du vielleicht wo man United Linux 1.0 noch Downloaden kann ?

Ist doch garnicht so schwer. Die Install-CD enthält alle Scripte und Anwendungen, um den Enterprise Server zu installieren. Damit wird das System (Festplatte, Netzwerk usw.) vorkonfiguriert. Danach fordert das Setup - ich nehme an es ist YaST - die erste United-CD an, um das Basissystem zu installieren. Sehr wahrscheinlich wird ganz zum Schluß noch einmal die Install-CD angefordert.
Lade dir von der Novell-Seite alle ISOs herunter, brenne sie auf CD und starte das Setup. Wenn du dir bei den angeforderten CDs nicht ganz sicher bist, einfach der Reihe nach ausprobieren. Dabei kannst du nichts falsch machen. YaST überwacht den ganzen Vorgang und meldet sich, wenn die CD nicht stimmt.
